Boston Celtics, Another Title in 09-10?
The Boston Celtics are coming off a disappointing 7 game series loss to the Orlando Magic in the second round of the 09′ playoffs. All things consider, the Celtics should be pleased with their playoff run given they didn’t have team leader Kevin Garnett.
After one of the most exciting playoffs series, first round or not, against the Chicago Bulls the Celtics didn’t have enough to put away the Orlando Magic. It was a shame the Celtics didn’t have the opportunity to defend their 08′ championship at full strength.
The Boston Celtics hope that everyone on the roster can stay healthy – especially for another championship run this season. The Boston Celtics finished the season with a 62-20 record despite Kevin Garnett missing 25 games – that shows how good the Celtics are.
Essentially everyone from last year will be back in action. The big three (Garnett, Pierce, Allen) are all back in tow, and Rajon Rondo, Leon Powe, Glen Davis, and the rest of the supporting cast are there as well. Out is Stephon Marbury, which may in fact be a good thing for the team.
Originally the Boston Celtics had the “Big Three” with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen – points during the season last year it was the “Big Four” with Rondo included.
In the 08′-09 Wallace only averaged 12 points per game – his lowest scoring averages since his rookie year in 95′-96′.
Rasheed Wallace has a history of taking games off but Doc Rivers will have Wallace compete every game undoubtedly. Wallace seemed disinterested in playing for the Detroit Pistons and a change of scenery was necessary to keep Wallace motivated.
Wallace won a championship in 04′ with the Detroit Pistons and is no stranger in playing in important games in the spring and summer time.
